martin margiela shirt-jacket, s/s 1999

shirt jacket reproduced from a doll’s wardrobe, a concept initially executed for f/w ‘94 and revisited for the “best of” spring season of ‘99. every detail and disproportion of the found doll’s clothing was reproduced in these pieces, which can be seen here: overly long and exposed threads, a boxy cut and a single large back snap button closure. the entire back or the garment is open aside from this heavy duty snap, which exposes a sliver of the wearers back when in motion (!) comprised of a heavy weight ramie. in good condition with only minor fading. the oversized “doll’s wardrobe” tag is present, as is martin’s signature blank white label.
