martin margiela snap closure maxi dress, f/w 1992

sleeveless floor length dress in acetate /rayon with exposed frayed lining throughout (navy outer, lined in black cotton). these "shell" type garments were utilized in martin’s early work, and were worn as layering pieces for f/w 1992 and s/s 1993- see previous post for documentation. large black heavy duty snaps at backside as closures, to alter fit as desired. can alternatively be worn open , front to back, as a long line waistcoat. in good/very good condition with little wear (its tattered and exposed lining is an intentional part of the design). tagged size IT42, fits true to size. a regal and witchy piece, very rarely seen, or available for sale!
