romeo gigli silk and metal plissé wrap top, s/s 1990

silk and metal blend plissé (not dissimilar to fortuny!) wrap top in sage green. to be worn in a million and one different ways: a mother of pearl buttoned placket serves as an anchor to the body, at which point the piece can be wrapped to the wearer’s desire. there is an elegant and ethereal sheen to the textile, and similar plissé pieces were shown for s/s 1990- see accompanying imagery from the runway! gigli was known for his resplendent, one of a kind textiles and this piece is a quite literal “glimmering” example of this!
